Candied Cayenne Squash

Okay so you’re not actually candying your butternut squash, but you are giving it a sweet n’ spicy seasoning shower! This is a super simple way to take your ordinary squash and make it awe worthy. You can try these spices on baked yams and beets, too. FYI this recipe is sure to give Donna’s bean dip a run for it’s money at your next work potluck.

  • 1 Cubed butternut squash (medium sized)
  • 1 Tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • Himalayan salt to taste

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Peel and cube butternut squash, add to rimmed baking sheet.
  3. Lightly melt coconut oil in a small pot, add cinnamon, cayenne, salt and maple syrup.
  4. Pour sauce over butternut squash and toss to coat, spread squash out evenly on tray.
  5. Bake for 15-30 minutes, stirring halfway though. Cooking time will depend on how full your baking sheet is as well how large of squash is cubed.
  6. Enjoy!
