Superfood Sangria

Patio season welcomes with it the fresh and vibrant flavours of summer. Soak up the sunshine with this Superfood Sangria, designed to increase your antioxidant intake (such as polyphenols and vitamin C). These powerful antioxidants help counteract free radical damage caused by extra sun exposure.

This recipe is best when made with organic ingredients (for so many reasons!), but in particular using organic apples and berries, as they will be ‘steeping’ in the sangria mixture, for several hours.

Bust out your largest jug or serving pitcher, this recipe is designed to share!

Instructions
  1. In a large heat proof bowl steep the green tea bags, fresh ginger and cinnamon sticks in hot water for 5 minutes
  2. Remove the tea bags (leaving the ginger and cinnamon sticks)
  3. Add fresh orange or grapefruit juice, and test the temperature (should be warm, not hot)
  4. Transfer the tea/juice into a large jug (will need to fit up to 2L of fluid)
  5. Add the frozen berries or pineapple, and diced apple
  6. Let the Sangria mixture ‘steep’ over several hours in the fridge, or even overnight
  7. Add in sparkling beverage of choice (750mls) and PureFood C right before serving, mix thoroughly
  8. Garnish each glass with some of the fruit and/or cinnamon sticks from the jug
  9. Enjoy! Note: You may notice a slight green residue on the surface of your Sangria. That’s the beauty of superfoods, like Moringa leaf, used in PureFood C. Embrace the green!
